My social feed was dominated this weekend with news of the sad fly in last week’s awesome National Book Award ointment: Daniel Handler’s racist comments as Jacqueline Woodson won the NBA for young people’s literature. BUT, in happier news, that fallout has led not only to a dignifiedly unqualified apology (albeit on… Twitter. I hope there was also a phone call to Ms. Woodson!) and a major donation to a worthy cause: the #WeNeedDiverseBooks indiegogo. Go donate!

Don’t miss this great Mellow Pages reading for a future weekend–that starting December 5–starring Soho’s own Sean Madigan Hoen, along with Justin Taylor, Amanda Shapiro, Andri Magnason, and Katherine Faw Morris. Presented by Vol. 1 Brooklyn.

Soho Press author James Benn is a nominee for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award!

Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach Trilogy is available in a beautiful single edition anthology just in time for you to buy me a present!

At Vol. 1, “Things are going astray. Have been going astray. Going forward. Going astray. Going ashtray. Going anyway.”
