Over at The Millions, they will try to convince you to read The Novel: A Biography, which is 1,200 pages long and weighs 6 pounds. That sounds like a big commitment, but it is also claimed that it’s “a book of such varied usefulness, such compact wisdom, that it’ll take a lot more than a few reviews to fully understand its brilliant contribution to literary study.” Which sounds pretty convincing.
