The Crime Writers’ Association recently released the results of a Bowker Market Research survey they commissioned. Their main finding: a typical crime reader is a sixty-plus, married woman with no children living at home.

But we here at Soho have a sneaking suspicion that Soho Crime readers come in all shapes and sizes. Over the last few months we’ve received photographs from some of our biggest fans (whom we adore in return), and let me tell you—they are male, female, young, old, and everything in between (as evidenced by the photos included with this post). As much as I love my fellow female crime readers (woot!), the survey results seemed a little narrow, and maybe in need of a rebuttal. Let’s see if the market research is right, shall we? Let’s show the Interwebs that everyone is a crime reader.

Send us a picture of yourself reading a crime novel (even if you match the survey’s findings). We want to see who the real crime readers out there are.

Show your pride in being a crime reader—whoever you are—by email (publicity@sohopress.com), by posting to our Facebook, or by using #ireadcrime to our Twitter (@soho_press). One lucky person with the best photo (determined by our random whim) will win a bag of Soho Crime goodies: The Fear Artist by Timothy Hallinan; Not My Blood by Barbara Cleverly and Getaway by Lisa Brackmann. That ‘s three hardcovers and a tote bag!

What can we say? We’re enablers.

Belle needs a Getaway. Now it’s your turn: Show us what kind of crime reader you are by posting a pic of yourself reading a Soho Crime novel.

“The one crime reader to rule them all.”
